What Are You Doing New Years, New Years Eve?

Happy NYE everyone!!!

I am in absolute awe at how fast this year has come and gone. It feels like just last week MDH and I were engaged, ringing in the New Year with a lovely dinner at PRESS in St. Helena.

Fast forward to now, we are married and heading down the road of marital bliss.

Tonight we'll be heading to  nice dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse followed by a quiet evening at  home with the pups. I probably won't make it past 10, but it sounds like an absolutely blissful night. I'll be wearing this dress that MDH surprised me with on Tuesday:

I love this Leifsdottir dress!! MDH knows me so well!

I'll be wearing it with my black satin Fendi pumps:

I can't wait!

One of the things I love about the New Year is that it is a fresh start. You have a blank slate to try things that you've never done before or want to improve. Here are my goals for 2010:

Sweat Once Everyday:
In 2010, I want to continue my quest to be more active. I'd like to do something physical every day whether it be running or yoga.

Keep in Touch:

In 2010 I'd like to do a better job at keeping in touch with people. I think it's important to take time maintain even the most casual relationships.

Get my Certifications:

In 2010 I have a really exciting professional goal. I'd like to obtain my Personal Trainer and Group Instructor Certifications. I love fitness and everything about it, and I am so lucky to have a husband who encourages me to achieve my dreams.

Read More:

I read a lot already, but I'd like to expand my base to include more books that expand my knowledge base.

What are your goals for 2010?

I hope you all have a fun and SAFE New Year's Eve!!
What are your plans??

See you in 2010!

Misty Water-Colored Memories, Of The Way We Were....

Hello everyone!!

I can't believe that tomorrow is New Year's Eve! This year has come and gone in a complete blur. To wind down the year I thought it would be fun to recap and revisit my favorite moments of 2009.

Without further ado....

For our first Valentine's Day MDH and I went to Bodega Bay for the weekend. It is our favorite spot because we can take the pups, and there's nothing to do out there but relax and enjoy the company.

In May MDH and I rode in our first Tour de Cure. Tour de Cure is a bike ride that benefits Diabetes research. Both my older brother and best friend have this disease, so we didn't think twice about riding 25 miles to benefit the cause.

In June, my dearest Jessica (from Newlywed Musings) got married. MDH and I were both in the ceremony. It was a wonderful wedding in beautiful Oregon. Truly, the perfect day.

In August my bridesmaids threw me a beautiful shower at Meadowwood Resort in St. Helena. It was absolutely beautiful and so much fun. This picture is of my Mommy and I (we totally coordinated our outfits on purpose).

On September 11th, the world became a happier place when my good friend J gave birth to Baby C. I swear, this baby is the sweetest thing. I was so happy to meet him the day he was born.

The best moment of my 2009 was my wedding on September 19th. Everything was perfect from the weather to the food. I married my best friend and began the most exciting journey of my life....

What were your favorite moments of 2009?

I hope you all have a great day, I'll be back tomorrow with my goals for 2010.

xoxo!

'Tis Better To Give Than To Receive....

Hello everyone!!!

I hope you all had a great Monday, I'm very happy to say that after today, my work week is 2/3s over. I live for these short weeks, especially when the long weekends bring so much excitement. I get to see many of my loves on one night!....Jessica from beautiful.dirty.rich. and Danielle & Sara from Sweet Nothings and I will be hitting the town to celebrate (albeit belated) Miss D's birthday.

As I said yesterday, I loved all of the gifts I received for Christmas; my family has wonderful taste. But I prefer giving gifts over receiving them. Here are some of my favorite gifts (given) for Christmas this year:

We gave my brother-in-law a Paul Smith scarf in the above pattern. It's cashmere, divine, and he loved it!

MDH loves pens. In fact, before I came into the picture I'd say they were the love of his life. I nabbed this brown, textured Cross pen for him this year. He was shocked I got it since I'm always making fun of how many pens he has.

Until last year my mom wore those horrible "Mom" jeans....you know, the tapered leg Liz Claibornes with a 13inch inseam? I FINALLY broke her habit early this year, and for Christmas I got her her first pair of Rich & Skinny's (they're my favorite)...she loves them, and I think I've created a Rich & Skinny monster!

Roomba. I surprised MDH with a Roomba (he's been obsessed ever since he saw one on the TV show Flipping Out). I must admit, this little machine is amazing. Roomba's quiet, smart, and she cleans like no other (yes, she's a she). I've grown shockingly attached to her over the last few days and could not imagine not having her in my life.

What were your favorite gifts to give this year?

I hope you all have a great Tuesday. I'll be back tomorrow to recap the best moments of my 2009.

xoxo!

Fit Filled Holiday....

Hello everyone!!

I hope you all had an amazing holiday weekend! Mine was jam packed, but so much fun. On Christmas Eve I went for a run and then went to my parents house for dinner and then MDH's parents had a little open house thing. Then Christmas morning we spent with my parents and went back to MDH's parents' house for dinner.

I'm ticked to say that the talented and wonderful Jessica at beautiful.dirty.rich. is a miracle worker who took my hair from Swamp Thing to Miss Thang. After three hours in her salon I emerged with the beautiful hair that I should've had. Needless to say, I'm going to leave my hair to only the best and make Miss Jessica my new stylist.

I've had so much fun hearing/seeing what everyone got for Christmas, and although gifts aren't what make the holiday important, it's fun to see how creative (or not) our families get. So here are a few of my favorite gifts in no particular order:

My little brother's girlfriend gave MDH and I a gift basket filled with tea, Portuguese pastries (I'm half Portuguese), and Julie & Julia (love that movie!). It was such a thoughtful and well put together gift!

MDH got me this Lululemon Hoodie. It's so thick and warm. I love it!!!

Clocky!!! MDH must have peeked at my blog because I had no idea he even knew I wanted this little guy. I love that he got me the speedy-looking Chrome one.

MDH also got me this Nike+ Sportband. It helps track how many miles I've run and how fast I'm running them. It will definitely come in handy as I continue to smoke him in our race.

My older brother got me a new ipod shuffle. Mine's hot pink....he knows me so well!

My in-laws got me my Reebok Easytones! I wore them all day yesterday, and I've gotta say...I'm definitely feeling my calves....I'll keep you updated on how I like them.

So that is just a few of my favorite gifts, although, I have to say that I got a lot of really wonderful things. I got A LOT of gym/fitness things, and that's the way I like it!!

To keep with this trend, come back tomorrow to see my favorite gifts that I chose to GIVE my friends and family members this year....I truly have much more fun giving than receiving, and this year I really feel like I hit it out of the park.

If you haven't voted for the song I'll turn into my next video (see upper right hand corner) please do! Voting is almost closed!

Have a great day everyone, I'll see you tomorrow!!

Somebody's Getting Married....

I was so thrilled when my friend Jessica from Newlywed Musings called me yesterday morning to tell me that Carrie Underwood was engaged.

Last night at her fiance's hockey game she flashed her new sparkler...

Lucky girl!

That's all for today, folks!

Sorry to keep it short, but I've got tons to do this week.

See you tomorrow!

Dancing On Air....

Happy Monday Everyone!!

I'm glad to be able to get a post in today. I absolutely hated missing Friday and couldn't bear the thought of missing today as well.

Thank you for all the tips on my hair, I'll be heading down to see Miss Jessica on Saturday for her to straighten out this hot mess of mine.

With New Years and plenty of birthdays coming up, I'm finding myself in need of new party shoes. I'll use any excuse I can for a pair of Manolos or Louboutins, but I love that Cole Haan uses Nike Air technology in their heels. Hypothetically, this makes these heels much more comfortable than their counterparts.

I haven't yet purchased or experienced Cole Haans, but here are some that I'm drooling over as of late:

I love these! They're more bone colored in person, and I think they'd be great with tights in the winter and dresses in the summer.

I think the contrast on these is so cute.

The gold is fabulous, but these beauties also come in black satin (in case you want to be more sensible...)

I love the texture of these and how they look almost mirrored.

To see the whole line, visit Cole Haan's website HERE

Have any of you tried these? Which ones are your favorite?

See you tomorrow!!

xoxo!

RIP Brittany Murphy....

I just read that Brittany Murphy died. So tragic.

I was never a huge fan, but I couldn't imagine losing someone, especially this close to the holidays.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

Dye-ing....

Hello Everyone!!

Today will involve an uncharacteristic Sunday post because I missed Friday due to family stuff and a hair appointment and tomorrow because I'll be helping my parents move into their new house. Now, I'm not very good at the moving boxes part, but am EXCELLENT at pointing and giving directions.

Friday was a very sad day for me. It actually started on Thursday when I got a call from my hair salon telling me my stylist had to cancel because she injured herself. (cue my panic) My outgrowth is horrible and something needs to be done about the mess atop my noggin. Luckily (or so they say) the new girl has plenty of openings and can fit me in at 4:30. (panic subsides slightly)

But what am I to do??? I don't trust my hair to just anybody, especially with my super unique blend of varying shades of blonde highlights that my stylist has spent over a year perfecting. Finally, it comes to me....I've been wanting to tone down my Platinum for awhile and go with more of a Lauren Conrad Caramel shade...so I decide, New girl can just color me my natural medium blonde (aka mousy) color and then I'll just wait for my stylist to recover and formulate my new look.

Well ladies, I forgot something....I absolutely HATE my natural color, especially when they have to dye me dark blonde so that it doesn't fade to much. I hate it even more when my "trim" involves new girl taking off about 2.5" of hair that I've been working so hard to grow.

To put it lightly, I'm avoiding mirrors. I'm contemplating wearing a paper bag over my head. And most importantly, Jessica will need to fix me because there's no way I can go very much longer looking like this:

It makes me sad just typing about it. =(

This 'do just doesn't match my sunny disposition and makes me feel homely (I abhor feeling homely).

So I hope you have all had a good weekend, I'm off to go find a stylish hat...anything to cover this hot mess.

I'll try to post tomorrow, but count on hearing from me on Tuesday!

xoxo!

Happy Birthday, Danielle!!

Hello everyone!!

Today is a very special day. Danielle from Sweet Nothings turns 25 today!!

There are few people in this world I love more than Danielle. We met during orientation for our freshman year of college. Our relationship has had its ups and downs, but I am so glad that she has managed to stay in my life.

Here's a picture of Danielle and our friend Jessica at my wedding.

Happy birthday to one of the sweetest and most amazing people I've ever known!!!

Head on over to Sweet Nothings and wish Danielle a happy birthday!!

I'll see you all tomorrow!!!

xoxo!
